Intern with Slow Food-UW Next Semester!

Do you have a passion for good, clean and fair food? Looking for a cool 
way to work closely food and sustainability next semester? Have you 
always wanted to become more involved with Slow Food UW?

 

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Slow Food wants YOU to apply for one of our open internship positions. Open Positions:
Outreach: 2 positions, 2-3 credits each
Grant Writing: 1 position, 1 credit
Historian: 1 position, 1-2 credits
Website: 1 position, 2 credits
Farm to University, 1 position, 1-3 credits

 

Outreach Internship (2 positions, 2-3 credits each)
This intern will work closely with the Membership Coordinator to plan  membership events, work with the Family Dinner Night coordinator to plan workshops, and reach out to organizations that align with our mission or could benefit from working with us. There are two positions available, offering 2-3 credits (60 hrs/credits.)

Tasks:
- Help plan membership events
- Help plan cooking workshops, movie nights, speakers, musicians and anything else
-Plan events witho rganizations that align with our mission of “good,
clean, fair” food, or could potentially benefit from working with SFUW.
(Interns should work to maintain our relationships with FH King, ReThink, MCSC and the GreenHouse in particular, but are not limited to just these groups.)

Required Skills:
- Event planning experience encouraged but not required.

Grant Writing Intern (1 credit)
SFUW is primarily funded by grants. This intern will work closely with the Financial Chair to apply for new grants and seek renewal of grants we have already received.  This internship requires no previous grant writing experience. There is one position available, for 1 credit (60 hrs/credit).

Tasks:
- Work closely with Financial Chair to search out new grants, apply for those that are topical and appropriate, and help the financial chair create a plan for continued financial stability.
- Attend grant writing workshops on campus to enhance writing capabilities
- Become familiar with Slow Food’s mission and goals

Required Skills:
- Ability to communicate regularly with internship advisor and SFUW leaders
- Solid writing skills encouraged Historian Internship (1-2 credits)
Slow Food UW is looking for an intern to document and archive our files and
history into an organized system both in paper form and in an online
location. Intern will working closely with directors to search through
emails, paper documents, and google documents to organize information
such as grants, recipes, financial spreadsheets, and guiding documents.
Intern must be organized, self-motivated, and have comfort with the
process of archival. Interest in local foods preferred, but not
required. The intern will have the opportunity to also participate in
other Slow Food UW events and get involved in a higher level with the
group as a whole. Credit through the university will be available and
arranged.

 

Website Intern (2-3 credits)
Slow Food UW is looking for an intern familiar in website programming to
update and streamline the website. The intern will be working closely
with the leadership team on the design and functioning of the website.
Opportunity to also participate in other Slow Food UW events and get
involved in a higher level with the group as a whole will be available.
Intern must be familiar with codes such as Drupal, Html, …., etc.
Interest in local foods is preferred, but not required. Credit through
the university will be available and arranged.

 

Farm to University Intern (1-3 credits)
Slow Food UW is looking for an intern to contribute to the Farm to
University project. Responsibilities include managing the Growing Power
market basket program, collaborating with the Farm to University task
force, outreaching and networking among students and university staff,
and further building Slow Food UW's relationship with UW food services.
There will be flexibility for initiative of an individual project if
sought. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in other
Slow Food UW events, as well as contribute to the group as a whole. We
are seeking that the intern be self-motivated, creative, and have strong
